The Keeper of my soul

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
                     Psalm 121:1-2

We are studying the Psalms of Ascent (Beth Moore) in our Friday night school of discipleship. The study is great and I love Beth (she has sooo much energy). The study is on the 15 Psalms (from Psalm 120 through 134) of the Ascent. This is the pilgrimage that the Israelites would take to Jerusalem during the three major festivals.

The Lord has already met me during this study. We sing the song for the Psalm listed above during worship, and I cannot get it out of my head. The one thing that He has been reminding me through His Word, is that He is the Keeper of my soul.

In the Psalms it talks about how the Lord is our protector and keeper but the one thing that keep hitting me was that He is the "Keeper of my soul." This is an awesome idea for me, not only does He want to protect me while I am on my pilgrimage or journey on this earth (The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. Psalm 121:5-6), but He wants to protect me forever (He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. Psalm 121:7-8)

What an awesome God! He is not only concerned about my welfare in the hot sun or the cool night, He wants to "preserve" my soul - now and forever!

Thank you Lord, for you protection over me.

Thank you that you are the Keeper of my soul!
